Laser cell FFO 4 index table

The Laser cell FFO 4 is constructed around a quadruple index table. The laser welding process takes place at one position. The other three positions are used for inserting and removing the welded components. Thanks to the high speed of the laser welding process, using several index tables is ideal for matching the logistics process to the welding speed.

 The most common configuration consists of two insertion positions where the components are put into the jig in two steps, followed by the welding position, and finally the automatic removal manipulator. Production can be done either in 2 or 4 stages. In the 2-stage operation, the insertion is at one position and the welding is at another position, while the remaining positions are not used. Therefore, in the 2-stage cycle it is easy to switch between two different types of products.

The table has a quick-change system so that welding jigs can be exchanged very quickly in order to reduce downtime as much as possible when the jigs have to be changed. The concept has already been proven in practice by several customers in a number of projects.

The Laser cell FFO 4 is fitted with either one or two robots with fixed optics. Using two robots in combination with a single laser source along with the AWL Techniek Beam Switch technology provides an optimal balance between 3D flexibility and laser uptime, and the use of simple but robust components.
